Christa Gniadek, Paper Citizen

Christa Gniadek

Christa Gniadek's new album “Hard Summer”, released November 4th, 2017 and completely funded by her fans, naturally embodies her evolution into a more pop, vocal-centered and single-oriented sonic landscape that still houses her uniquely strong emotional fingerprint. In the last year, Gniadek has bridged the gap between the day-to-day fiery, passionate side of her personality - the side that until now didn't always make it to the stage - and injecting that intensity, that grit, into her songwriting. This has elevated her new album and live show to a level even she was surprised by. She will tell you her recent creations, her songs, were the catalysts for pushing her into this new territory of her strong voice and attitude. These new songs are also what prompted her to move from Boston to Los Angeles in late 2016. Since moving to Los Angeles she has quickly entered the live music circuit, playing iconic venues such as The Viper Room and The Federal Bar - and you can still catch her busking in Santa Monica or Burbank, not unlike her busking days back in Boston.

Paper Citizen

Paper Citizen is a Boston-based indie rock project led by Singaporean singer-songwriter, violinist, guitarist and music producer, Claire Gohst. The music blends crisp vocals with lyrical intimacy, spacious guitars and organic rhythms. At the age of 18, Claire left school to pursue music as a full-time career, starting out in the local live music scene around Singapore, playing the violin and singing in bars, clubs and restaurants with different rock and folk bands. She soon after moved to Boston to pursue training in the recording arts and jazz violin. The melding of her artistic message, honed with musical influences, such as Wilco, St. Vincent and Andrew Bird, and recording technological skills results in the indie-rock project, Paper Citizen. Released in 2016, the debut EP 'Postcards in Transit; is a personal reflection that touches on the excitement, but also uncertainty that comes with new experiences, whether dealing with a relationship or moving to a new place. The singles that followed - 'Slow Motions' and 'History' - continue to develop a rich sound and maintain the thematic sense of tension present in the EP. The sophomore EP is currently in the works and is expected in early 2018.
