Carlin Tripp, “The Shape of the Island” EP Release, w/Special Guests, Jenee Halstead and Matt Borrello

Carlin Tripp is a laid back folk rocker drawing from a life spent roaming this great country, seeking out rare experiences and making new friends along the way. Now settled in Boston, he devotes his time to being a stay at home dad and touring musician. His songs reflect on love lost, love found and the trials and joys we all face in our day to day existence. He is known for capturing audiences with his intimate lyrics and gripping stage presence.

Tripp has played some of Massachusetts’ premier venues including Paradise Rock Club and The Narrows Center for the Arts, opening for Strangefolk, Vance Gilbert, Rik Emmett, and Jason Myles Goss.

He was the winner of the first annual Spire Open Mic Challenge (2015) and has been nominated for awards such as "Breakthrough Artist of the Year", “Male Performer of the Year” and “Album of the Year” by Limelight Music Awards (2015).

Jenee Halstead

Her latest release, “Edge of the World,” adds to the indefinable soundscape in which her soft and supple voice floats so exquisitely that the Boston Herald felt it “like sorceress music, rings of smoke through the trees and the bells of Rhymney,” while comparing Jenee’s working relationship with new producer Sean McLaughlin to that of Emmylou Harris and Daniel Lanois for the way it “embedded a tremendous voice in an otherworldly, shadowy soundscape.”

Spot on. With her gift for wonderfully evocative lyrical imagery, delivered with such a compelling voice, it’s easy to foresee that Jenee’s unfettered songwriting will continue to rise — like those swirling rings of smoke — into the expansive sky, and far beyond the edge of the world.

Matt Borrello

Matt Borrello is a traveling singer and guitar player with a repertoire of traditional folk, classic rock, and contemporary original songs. Born and raised in the small town of Dighton, MA, Matt started playing guitar at 14. Within a year he was writing and gigging and he hasn’t really done much other than that since. Now in his mid-twenties, Matt plays regularly in the Boston, Southern Mass, and Rhode Island area, usually as a solo acoustic act. Matt’s insightful songwriting often blends political and personal themes. His passionate performances have earned him recognition in various New England talent showcases and songwriting contests, most notably at the Boston Folk Festival Youth Songwriting Contest. He has also traveled to perform at prestigious venues in the Mid-Atlantic and the Carolinas. Matt performs his own songs and also offers energetic interpretations of classic folk, rock, and blues from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. He has a not-so-secret fondness for Bob Dylan songs, and performs with Art Tebbetts from New Bedford and Danielle Miraglia from Boston in a handful of annual Bob Dylan Tribute Shows. Matt is also a guitarist-for-hire and loves spontaneous collaborations with other musicians. He has always appeared comfortable on coffeehouse stages, and is equally at home playing a rowdy bar, intimate house concert, or outdoor festival.

Matt Borrello’s debut album, “Don’t Turn Around”, was self-released in 2010. Since then he has released a few live and studio EPs, gaining some airplay in the Northeast and elsewhere. His newest album of original music "A Dollar & A Kiss" was recorded at Fox Run Studio in Sudbury, MA.
