Songwriter Roundup with Katie Dobbins, Lindsay Foote, Alex Fam, Stace Brandt

New England Music Award-winning Katie Dobbins draws from a palette of contemporary folk and new country to create a genre uniquely her own. With a mastery of storytelling and the heart of a poet, this soulful songstress captures elements of life and relationships in ways that lift the spirit and challenge the soul. Carolyn Kruse of Country 102.5 WKLB raved, "Sweet but bold, Katie's voice is reminiscent of one of her heroes, Jewel, but only deeper . . . a fearless spirit with a gentle touch." Tom Bianchi, Talent Buyer at Somerville's The Burren, voiced "with gorgeous harmony and song Katie lyrically weaves in stories of healing, growing and moving forward through the struggles of life." Dobbins' sophomore album, There Is Light, contains remarkably honest songs that capture seasons of both hardship and joy, but hold onto the hope that light will always illuminate and overpower darkness.

Lindsay Foote writes honest, soul-bearing music coupled with a voice that will melt even the hardest heart. She has already released two EPs and a full album. Her newest release, Going Gone, has been featured on CBC Metro Morning, CBC Big City Small World, and CJRU Double Booked. RAW RAMP Magazine calls these songs “the most celestial & moving folk songs you can imagine.”

Lindsay was a finalist in both the Songwriter Serenade Competition in Austin, and the Canadian Songwriting Competition. Since the release of Going Gone, she has completed several tours throughout Texas, the East Coast, Ontario, and the Canadian Maritimes. Over the past few years, she has been presented a the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival, Tay Creek Folk Festival, and Campfire Festival. In March 2019, Lindsay was honored be part of the Banff Singer-songwriter Residency.

Alex Fam is a spirited folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who holds her own among artist like Andrew Bird and Ingrid Michaelson. Alex's music reflects her spontaneity and openness on stage, incorporating violin accompaniment, audience participation, and uplifting lyrics. Within just the past year, Alex has built a following in Boston, performing at venues such as The Burren, Aeronaut Somerville, and The Bebop. Alex released her debut record Come Close in January 2019, available on all music platforms.

Stace Brandt has listened for a long time, ear to the ground, constantly searching for what makes a song tick. After spending five years in Burlington, Vermont writing songs, collaborating, and playing live to shape her sound, Stace returned to the Boston area where she grew up and jumped into a new scene. Melodically, Stace’s intuition never fails to pack a punch: soul-driven lyrics flow into R&B inflected hooks. Her guitar, minimal and percussive, provides a rhythmic backbone for her smoldering vocals. Powerfully reflective and sentimental, Stace’s music wavers between intimacy and solitude, between living recklessly and intense self-reflection. Stace was recently awarded an Iguana Fund Grant from Club Passim in Cambridge to complete her second EP, Lucky Ones. Stace released Lucky Ones in March 2019.
