Songwriter Roundup with Katie Dobbins and Various Special Guests!

New England Music Award-winning Katie Dobbins draws from a palette of contemporary folk and new country to create a genre uniquely her own. With a mastery of storytelling and the heart of a poet, this soulful songstress captures elements of life and relationships in ways that lift the spirit and challenge the soul. Carolyn Kruse of Country 102.5 WKLB raved, "Sweet but bold, Katie's voice is reminiscent of one of her heroes, Jewel, but only deeper . . . a fearless spirit with a gentle touch." Tom Bianchi, Talent Buyer at Somerville's The Burren, voiced "with gorgeous harmony and song Katie lyrically weaves in stories of healing, growing and moving forward through the struggles of life." Dobbins' sophomore album, There Is Light, contains remarkably honest songs that capture seasons of both hardship and joy, but hold onto the hope that light will always illuminate and overpower darkness.

Rachel Marie follows in a tradition of unapologetically forthright women folksingers, with songs that hearken to "overstuffed lines of Tori Amos, philosophical turn of Indigo Girls, and lilting vocals like Joni Mitchell." The social awareness of folk meets the introspection of the singer-songwriter tradition with a moderate dose of snark. An endearingly quirky stage presence as honest as her songs keeps audiences charmed. Boston-based and Pennsylvania-raised, Rachel has shared stages with Cheryl Wheeler, Antje Duvekot, Michelle Lewis, Grace Morrison, and the Kennedys. Her November 2018 single “Looking for Light” was featured on an officially curated Spotify playlist the week of its release.

Theis is a Boston-based, Indiana-bred pop songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Her latest EP “Casual” explores the strange journey of online dating. Her work is marked by sharp, catchy melodies amplified by a style that reveres both old and new — think 60s French pop meets Feist superfan. Theis swaps instruments and sings with a tender assuredness that mirrors the duality in her writing: confidence and doubt, frustration and joy, sadness and humor. For fans of big feels and singing along.

Formed between Boston and Portland ME, Emily and Jake are a folk duo who create gracefully warm music with effortless harmonizing, easy melodicism, and raw honesty. "Beautifully simple and understated" states Ian Miller from For The Love of Bands. Imagine their sound as a combination of Mumford and Sons, The Head and The Heart, and Fleetwood Mac.

Garnering the name from a street corner back in Cam's hometown of Beaufort, North Carolina- what started off as a solo project has quickly become a duet between Sarah and Cam Cotham. Pulling influences from acts such as Penny & Sparrow, You+Me, Donovan Woods and the Civil Wars - Front & Turner invites listeners in close with intimate harmonies and folk-stylings of their own music as well as popular tunes. They are currently writing and recording their first group of songs as a duet.

Dan Lovely is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Boston, MA. He is the lead singer and co-founder of Blue Light Bandits, an award-winning groove-rock outfit from Worcester, Ma. Inspired by pop, neo-soul, and funk, his performances are known for their dynamic arrangements and smooth vocals. Since co-producing and releasing two records with Blue Light Bandits, his work has accrued over two million streams of Spotify, alone.
